So you’ve decided to get a new giant schnauzer puppy. Did you make sure that your space is ready for them? Have you already bought all the necessities that your puppy needs? If you have never had a dog before, you need to make a checklist of what items to purchase for your puppy. The following are basic needs to buy for your new giant schnauzer puppy.

  1. Collar and leash. A dog collar should be worn by your new puppy all the time. A leash is also essential especially for walking, training and as identification of your pet. Choose a collar that is adjustable since your puppy will grow over time and buy a sturdy and retractable leash to allow your dog roam when walking outside your home.
  2. Dog tags. The dog tag should be attached in the collar in advance. It should include your dog’s name as well as your updated contact information. Choose a tag that is made of stainless steel rather than an aluminum one because it is less likely to experience wear and tear.
  3. Healthy dog food. For your giant schnauzer puppy, buy age-appropriate dog food that has calories and essential nutrients needed for your growing pet. Read the food label and check if it contains a mixture of vegetables, fruits and meat. Buy food and water bowls for your puppy so they can develop a habit to eat and drink in one same place.
  4. Comfortable crates and cages. Though some people associate cages as punishment, this may give a good experience to your puppies if they are trained properly. Crates are essential especially when travelling and may be a place for your puppies where they feel safe and comfortable.
  5. Puppy toys. Buy toys used for chewing or teething so that your puppy can be trained what items to chew. Having balls and fetch toys are also some items that are necessary for your puppy to help  them burn off energy or keep them occupied.
  6. Poop bags. When you have a puppy, you need to take him out for a walk, so it’s best the you are prepared with having puppy poop bags. Have atleast one roll on hand when you and your puppy plan to go out for a stroll.
  7. Dog bed. Make sure to buy your puppy a comfortable bed that is waterproof and one you can place inside a crate. Puppies like to sleep in a warm environment so having a comfortable dog bed will ensure your puppy’s comfort.
  8. Grooming tools. Since giant schnauzers have a beautiful coat, invest on grooming tools that you can use even if they are all grown up. Grooming tool essentials include a pet brush, dog comb and nail clippers.

So you may consider including some or all of the listed items in your checklist and purchase it before brining home your new furry friend. Hopefully it wll help you adjust easily, so you can successfully raise a happy and healthy puppy.
