We breed Giant Schnauzers specifically for drive and health among other important factors in creating sound dogs. It’s important to us that the Giants we produce have high prey drive and are suitable for versatile work.

Yes. We test hips and elbows in our breeding adults at no earlier than 24 months. Our dogs are free of hip and elbow dysplasia according to OFA equivalent standards. Send Us a Message To Request Results.

Puppies are very cute! We get it. However, puppies grow up and mature to be 80 – 95 lb adult dogs. Honestly, most dog owners are not mentally equipped with the knowledge or understanding to properly train working breeds. This is why so many behavioral issues are seen in dogs and even undesirable behaviors arise in puppies. Our mission is to provide well trained companions and to remove these obstacles from the equation of owning a Royal Giant. We want our dogs to be enjoyed throughout their entire lives and not just as a cute black fluff ball. As we breed for drive, our puppies are very energetic and athletic. Giant Schnauzers are not for the novice owner. (They’ll walk all over you if you let them. LITERALLY). By training puppies/ dogs prior to taking ownership, we alleviate the “trial and error” stages. We simply are not regular breeders and we don’t sell puppies untrained. Our dogs are trained and then sold.

HOWEVER, about 85% of our litters are suitable to be protection dogs. This means that there are those few pups who we feel may be more laid back/ relaxed in comparison to our usual pups.

We do have a LARGE WAITING LIST for untrained puppies!!

We started out with Garvey and a female “Love” (she was several months younger). – We never thought of taking breeding seriously or to this extent!
Love was an amazing CGC demo dog for our dog training business where we offered board and train, private sessions, and group classes.
She was extremely deformed as far as her size. She was very small and looked like a standard schnauzer. You would have never believed that she was a giant. She ended up being diagnosed with an aggressive cancer at just under 1 years old. (We had to put her down) We were devastated and shattered. The breeder (Individual) we purchased her from was spineless. The response we were given was repulsive. There was no action to rectify the situation, no explanation, or any concern for what transpired with this dog who was such a big part of lives, who we loved unconditionally and devoted so much time to.

This inspired us to do better by others interested in the breed and use the training gifts we had to pair with a breeding program and do right by people and the dogs they took home with them.
Our experience was so unfortunate and we would never want anyone to be in the position that we were in. We have always been passionate about training, but this exact experience fueled us to start this program.  RIP Love (You changed our lives forever and we will always LOVE you).

Training duration depends on which program is selected as well as the maturity of a puppy/dog. Every dog is different and some puppies are faster learners than others. We treat each dog as an individual.
Estimated Program Duration for Puppies

We do have a LARGE WAITING LIST for untrained puppies!! About 85% of our litters are suitable to be protection dogs. This means that there are those few pups who we feel may be more laid back/ relaxed in comparison to our usual pups who would be available without training. We only home puppies like this after 10 weeks of age.

It depends WHAT trainer. If you plan on working your dog and participating in IGP or PSA, we are happy to discuss further with you regarding your plans.

Our dogs are placed trained. They are well-socialized and can integrate well with other dogs. Of course, owners must understand pack order and uphold the same standards with other dogs as their Giants. It is recommended that all dogs in the household in addition to your Giant are obedience trained and well-mannered.

You may pick the language of your commands. We just need you to specify the word in your language for each command.

We always recommend picking up dogs in person for private training before taking ownership, but are also able to provide video coaching and online training to teach you and your family how to interact and upkeep the training regiment of the dog. (OBEDIENCE TRAINED DOGS ONLY)

We will NEVER ship a personal protection dog to you!! You MUST pickup the dog in-person.
PROTECTION TRAINED DOGS: We recommend at least 3 – 7 days of hands on training with us and your PPD prior to taking ownership.

All of our giants are trained to the CGC obedience standard and beyond at off-leash level. We use balanced training methods.

We have an application process. Click Here

Once approval is granted to an individual, we schedule phone calls to discuss our program, the needs and requirements of the dog for the individual/family, etc.

The below time frames are ESTIMATES. Duration all depends on the dog as they are all completely different and we treat them as individuals. These estimates are provided based on raising and training a puppy.

Basic Obedience 3 months

Advanced Obedience 5-6 months

Beginner Protection 9-11 months

Advanced Protection 14-24 months

We proof our giants through exercises and testing

We socialize puppies and dogs with other dogs. They do well when obedience trained (at the least). All Giant Schnauzers should be well trained.

Giant Schnauzers need regular grooming.

They don’t shed large tumbleweeds of hair, but they do need regular brushing. Keep their head trimmed; with those pronounced eyebrows and beard, their face can virtually disappear under a tangle of hair unless they’re kept neatly trimmed.

No, we do not. We specialize in Giant Schnauzers.

Commands are program specific and include commands such as:

  • “COME”
  • “DOWN”
  • “SIT”
  • FLIP TO HEEL
  • HEEL WORK
  • WALKING ON THE LEAD
  • Long Stay
  • Distraction Stays
  • “PLACE”
    “WAIT”
    “CAGE”
    “LEAVE IT”
    “OFF”
    “NO”

While no dog is 100% hypoallergenic, there have been reports that people with pet allergies react less to the giant schnauzers. The key is that they don’t shed as much as their counterparts. Despite the actual hairs not being what people are allergic to, if they shed hair, they’re likely shedding dander as well.

NO**. We do not wish to encourage irresponsible breeding. We place pups and dogs with Limited AKC registration which does not permit the owner to register any litters associated with their dog.

We have worked very hard and put a lot of time, effort and money in to our dogs,  brand, and program. So, giving breeding rights away doesn’t make sense. Also, once again, we seek to discourage irresponsible breeding in any form.

Breeding rights should be EARNED, not bought.

**We do take into consideration, individuals who have proven history in sporting and conformation events. These individuals may be viewed as responsible candidates to grant co-ownership breeding rights*.

Additional fees may apply. Please send us a text or email for more information. **  at Info@RoyalGiantSchnauzers.com or 404-998-0026

Yes, with the right temperament and professional training. Service dogs are not supposed to “bite”. There is a big difference when the dog is trained to do so with absolute control regardless of the environment. Please don’t do this at home. Always seek the guidance of a professional dog trainer/ handler/decoy.

We offer a replacement guarantee for hip and elbow dysplasia as we health test all of our breeding adults to ensure they are free of any dysplasia.

Up to date on vaccinations*  and wormings per age, AKC Limited registration*,  Applicable take home training based on program.

Sign up for our waiting list HERE. We have a LONG list for untrained puppies. So, it’s recommended to place a deposit once you’re approved to be guaranteed in the future from the list.

Send us an email with the subject APPLICATION or text us at (404) 998-0026 with your email and request an APPLICATION.

We will let you know if you’re approved or not.

From there, you are welcome to purchase a dog from us !

Based on your  requirements on your application and after discussing your lifestyle with us, we will make a recommendation on the kind of puppy you need. Temperament plays a HUGE part in the success of a puppy/ dog in your life. If you are incompatible, the relationship could be foreseeably doomed in the future.  Based on availability, the Client may be able to select their puppy from a selection.

There’s so much more to take into consideration other than a puppy being very cute and coming to you first when it comes to selecting your forever dog.

Our goal is to set up an owner and the puppy for success.

We do not allow the public on our property unless pre-approved and purchasing a dog, as we reside at the property.

Customers who have put down a deposit towards puppies may visit puppies after 8 weeks of age for health and wellbeing of the newborn puppies developing.

Yes, this is possible. Always be sure to discuss this with us prior to purchasing and communicating your goals to ensure that we are on the same page in placing you with a puppy/dog. Return training varies greatly based upon availability.

We get asked this question often. No, we do not. We specifically raise our own dogs and train them. The training, support and guidance that we provide for the life of the dog is different in itself. It’s hard to find. Someone will always be cheaper, but We always recommend getting a Royal Giant.

Yes. Venus and BlaQ have participated in AKC conformation and obedience testing.

Sporting events are great and all, but we don’t place a particular value on institutionalized groups to tell us what our dogs are, or,  are not. Product is evident. While the curriculum and grading criteria are very detailed and valid, If a dog does what it should do, who’s to question that it doesn’t demonstrate what’s necessary just because it does not have a piece of paper?

Millionaires are self-made without ever going to high school. Hopefully this give you an insight on where we stand.

We’re proudly black owned and family – trainer operated. Our dogs are our family and trusted guardians. Our kennel is located on our property which we live on and personally raise our puppies and dogs on. Of course, we have helping hands to ensure optimal health of our dogs and cleanliness of their living quarters, but we do all the work ourselves. We work with select decoys who have the fun job of getting bit by our mature puppies/dogs once they get older and we can no longer agitate and exercise them as owners and do all of our handling and obedience training ourselves.

Our clients are family and we focus on quality not quantity. Top competitors would charge much more for trained dogs, but we are significantly a fraction of the cost to provide realistically attainable dogs at a premium affordable cost.

Training is the foundation of our lives with our relationship with Giant Schnauzers. An untrained dog is not a good dog. Any dog will be company, but we take pride in the manners and respect that we instill in our puppies from a young age and set ourselves apart in doing so.

Yes. We raise and train dogs around children and other family members. We make sure that dogs are able to take instructions from children at appropriate ages such as 8 years old +. Small children should be monitored and taught by an adult on how to interact gently with dogs. Our dogs listen to instruction, but it is a parents responsibility to reinforce boundaries and rules which we teach them to teach their young children when handling protection dogs.
